COMPASSION
by Nate (Nanthakumar)
Without suffering, compassion would just be a word without meaning.
Wolves. The darkness closing in on the teddy bear, represents those who experience suffering, be it physical or emotional.
Hands. When someone listens, understands and empathises with another’s suffering, a light shines into the darkness. In reaching out, the lost become found, and the drifting become anchored.
Hugs. In the simple act of the embrace, whether to oneself or towards another, suffering is eased. Even if only for a moment.
Suffering gives purpose to compassion.
From doodles to sketches, Nate is still in the process of exploring his artistic style. Having started drawing as a way towards self-discovery, what he produces is undeniably messy. He invites the viewer to find the beauty in such chaos.
